Aims and Objectives

As from 1 April 2008 Southern Test Valley Voluntary Transport Scheme has been incorporated into the Test Valley Community Transport Scheme, which is the responsibility of Test Valley Community Services. • Do you have difficulty accessing public or private transport?
• Would you like to find a way to get out more - to the shops / see friends etc
• Do you know a relative, friend or neighbour who might need help with transport?

• Do you like driving?
• Do you have a few hours to spare during the week?
• Would you like to help others who do not have their own transport?

Southern Test Valley Voluntary Transport Scheme is based in Romsey and provides community transport around the southern part of Test Valley, across the whole area stretching from Kings Somborne in the north to Nursling in the south, and from Wellow in the west to Valley Park in the east.

We have three vehicles that are accessible to wheelchair-bound passengers

• One operates the Romsey Dial a Ride service. This is a transport service for the elderly or people with disabilities, who cannot use public transport, and brings people from outlying areas into Romsey to shop or visit friends etc. Dial a Ride provides a door-to-door service using a specially adapted minibus, equipped to carry people with or without wheelchairs or walking frames. It can take up to 15 passengers in addition to the driver.
• A second vehicle is a community transport accessible minibus for taking larger groups on outings, such as special events, club meetings, etc. It can also take 15 passengers.
• Finally, a smaller vehicle (an adapted Renault Kangoo) can carry one wheelchair and up to three passengers, and is used for family days out or attending appointments etc.
